Data Collection & Reporting for Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation

Supporting data‐driven wildlife rescue and rehabilitation through consistent reporting

The NSW Wildlife Council plays a role in encouraging/supporting that wildlife rehabilitation is not just compassionate - but also evidence-based. NWC encourages and supports rehabilitators across the state to maintain consistent reporting and data collection practices. The data is collected is shared with partner organisations like IFAW and the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service and is integrated into databases like BioNet and SEED.

This information becomes a foundational asset for informing key research, conservation planning, and programs such as Saving Our Species, the NSW Koala Strategy, and NWC’s Wildlife Friendly Roads project and Impact Reports. By linking rescue causes and rehabilitation outcomes with broader ecological data, the NWC helps turn individual rescue efforts into meaningful contributions towards biodiversity conservation and impactful projects to curb the threats, like car strikes.
