The winners of the NWC 2014 rehabilitation grants have been announced. The winners are:

1st Dr Rosemary Austen – Wildcare Queanbeyan

Pre-release macropod enclosure extension—materials extra cost $4185 already partly funded—the facility releases about 140 macropods per year

2nd

Bev Marsh – Native Animal Trust Fund

Flying-fox enclosure—built now—additional funds to fit out area 4M x 3M x 2M—12-36 flying-foxes per annum.

3rd

Mandi Griffiths – Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services

Flying-fox enclosure extension/renovation to aid catching, cleaning and monitoring of 200—600 animals per annum.

4th

Judith Hopper – Native Animal Trust Fund

Compound light microscope for wildlife specimen analysis to allow speedy identification of health problems—would be available for up to 5 groups in total over the geographic area.

5th

Lyn Obern – Wildlife Rescue South Coast

Wombat enclosure for mange treatment and intensive care. Concrete base, roof, fencing and indoor/outdoor gate flap.
